Ich
“From above the tragedies all look the same. You have to get close to discover its color.”
There is a place on top of the world, where silence suggests and Ich listens. A place where Ich confronts his thousand souls, looking for answers. His land is threatened by the conquistadors, and with it the tribes that inhabit it, but the young native is determined to stop that river of pain. Wearing mysterious masks, which give him the character of fearsome demons, he will face the Spanish soldiers in a series of bloody and violent clashes in the heart of the Peruvian jungle. A battle that leads to an atavistic struggle between Good and Evil.
After the great success in Argentina, where an animated film inspired by the story is also being worked on, the volume dedicated to the story of Ich, a warrior of the Amazon who fights in defense of his own people, arrives in Italy for the first time and of their own land. His name, "Ich", means mask, and it is precisely through a collection of masks that the fearless young man tries to sow panic among the soldiers of the Spanish Empire. In fact, these have the power to take possession of the wearer, changing their appearance. Thus, Ich takes on the features of terrible demons from time to time, which terrify the Spaniards but often even escape his control. A blessing, therefore, which in some ways also proves to be a condemnation. Between dangers and omens, the protagonist will try to change the fate of a destiny that seems to have already been written.
«The mask, so central to this story, is, in fact, a sacred and priestly object since prehistoric times and an expression of the power of transmutation. The ritual masks represented the power of the "Spirits of the Ancestors" or of "Supernatural Beings" who, once worn, came back to life in a form of possession that had the priest-shaman as receptor and the mask as a catalyst fulcrum. The mask therefore indicates a specific function: that of the divine messenger who takes possession of the individual who wears it, and both become one."
