Ariel Olivetti studied Graphic Design at the University of Buenos Aires and his first publications were for the prestigious independent Argentine comic magazine «Fierro». Together with cartoonists Claudio Ramírez, Jorge Lucas and Mauro Cascioli, he created the Argentinian character El Cazador de Aventuras, a comic for adults very popular for the quality of his drawings, his acid humor, his social commentary and his irreverent obscenity.
His first work for the United States was in 1994, in The Last Avengers Story, written by Peter David and published by Marvel Comics. Subsequently, he worked briefly as an artist on Daredevil from 1997 to 1998, when he worked with screenwriter Joe Kelly.
In 1998 he realizes, together with screenwriter Steven Grant, the restyling of the X-Men series started by Warren Ellis. In 2005, he again collaborated with Joe Kelly on the DC Comics limited series Space Ghost
Other titles he worked on: Mystique and Sabretooth (1996), Alpha Flight (1997) and What If? (1997) with Marvel; JLA: Paradise Lost (1998), Haven: The Broken City (2002), Green Lantern (2003) and Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight (2006) with DC Comics.
In 2006 he signed an exclusive contract with Marvel Comics and, together with screenwriter Matt Fraction, created the second volume of Punisher: War Journal.
He currently continues to work for Marvel, DC Comics, Vertigo, Boom editorial, etc, but without an exclusive contract.
Throughout his career, Olivetti has worked in a variety of mediums using numerous drawing and coloring techniques, including black and white, digital color, acrylics and oils.
